THE PINK CITY

THE PINK CITY

We source many of our products from Jaipur and spending time in the place that is
affectionately known by many as the ‘Pink City’ is an absolute privilege. It has also
inspired our brand colours as you can see from our website.

The old city was painted a stunning pinkish terracotta for the visit of the Prince of
Wales in 1876 (who later became King Edward VII) and the city has embraced the
shade ever since. Pink is supposed to be the colour of warmth and hospitality and we experience incredible warmth and kindness from everyone we meet when we go.

It is extraordinary to take an autorickshaw around the old city and to be surrounded bywhat feels like a sea of pink. On almost every street in Jaipur, you’ll find buildings
painted a gorgeous shade of dusty pink including the magnificent Hawa Mahal also
known as The Palace of Winds. A law was passed in 1877 stating that all buildings
should be painted pink and still remains today.

We hope the dusky pink and shades of terracotta we have borrowed from Jaipur are successful in conveying our warmth and welcome to you all whether you are an existing or potential customer.
